JALENKWRIGHT el. has me curious as to what goes down in the Southwest. I purchased his project sounds unheard, solely based off the recommendation of a fellow Bandcamp supporter (the album artwork caught my attention as well). 'SLATE BLUE' plays like a late night car ride transitioning into the top of the morning–while it is still dark outside but the sky has turned the faintest shade of the titular hue. It must be an unwritten rule amongst beatmakers that the best beat on the tape must also be the shortest. Favorite track: RUNNIN'.

Vonneandonly Was a hard pick between HEAVY and RUNNIN'. This tape so clean though I could have chose QUEZ'S JOINT III. Always looking out for their collabs! Whole thing fire really...but that's el. for you. Gonna be some days when I pull this up cuz I just need to hear it again. Favorite track: HEAVY.

Slate Blue is the latest beat tape from Arizona-based beatmaker and self-proclaimed "Loop-Digga", el. With dazzling sample choices combined with hard-hitting drums, this 8-track offering is tightly wound and stays true to the "quality over quantity" theory.

The opening track, "Heavy", sets the tone immediately (prefaced with an audio clip from a popular 90's crime-drama film) and the Marv Krown assisted "Grey" closes the project on a high note that leaves the listener wanting more.

Overall, this is a short, yet fulfilling tape that begs the question: "what's next for the 31-year old beatmaker?"
